Sunday Talk No.7 - Renathe Todal Tande

Renathe is the designer behind the Copenhagen based fine jewelry label Still With You. She strives for longevity in both style and quality, something Sunday shares with her. That´s one of the reason why Sunday decided to bring Still With You into their assortment. The other reason is that you just fall in love in the interesting organic shape of Renathes jewelry.
Sunday: How are you feeling today and why?
Renathe: I'm good! Weekends are nice when you have time to do this and that, take it slow, cook for a few hours and just hang out together.
S: What are you working on right now?
R: I have just finished sourcing vintage silver jewelry to restore for the second selection of curated vintage jewelry for Argent Atelier.
A new capsule collection for SWY STUDIO is in the making too.
S: When did you realize that jewelery was your passion?
R: In late 2010 when I made my first pieces. Working with my hands gave sense, calm and clarity. I haven't stopped making jewelry since.
S: Where do you source inspiration?
I don't actively source inspiration, like make a mood board before a collection or set a theme. I guess inspiration grows on me gradually, from all around. Especially nature and my surroundings.
Vintage jewelry was a big inspiration for the last collection and is also the inspiration for the new capsule collection I'm working on now. Soft, bold and modern.
S: Who is your favourite artist?
R: I can't think of one favorite artist, but I have a favorite piece of work; That's The Spirit For J and W by Leo Valledor.
S: How does your studio look like?
R: It's around 20 sq.meter, big, white and industrial. It's organized and chaotic at once, but I have every thing at hand. A lot of tools, coffee and music.
S: What music are you currently playing in your studio?
R: Shopify's Discover weekly has served me so well the past weeks! Honestly, the week's when my Discover or Release radar is off, it messes up my whole work flow. Tracks from The War on Drugs, Curtis Harding, Baba Stiltz and Wangel have been on repeat this week.
S: What is your favourite hangout in your neighbourhood?
R: There is a secluded swimming pier a 5 minute walk from our home, where I love to have an office day with Stella my dog during summer. Then there is La Banchina 2 minutes from the studio. That's a lovely place all year round.
S: Latest watched on Netflix?
R: Jerry before Seinfeld.
S: If you could choose only one thing in your home to keep for life, what would it be? (not a person or an animal)
R: A black and white photo of my mom and me from the delivery room. I'm born 26 minutes past midnight on New Year's Eve and the local newspaper was there to take a photo of the first child born that year. It's my most treasured item.
S: What are you reading right now? And can you recommend it?
R: I'm completing my bachelor's degree in Political science this spring and work full time with SWY STUDIO, so the only books I manage to read these days are for my courses. And those I can't really recommend.
But besides that, any book by Linn Ullmann comes highly recommended.
S: Do you have any good tips for a sustainable lifestyle?
R: Be thoughtful and discerning. On a more practical level, the vegan options in stores have improved amazingly the past year!
S: Five things that make your Sunday?
R: Giant coffee. A slow and quiet breakfast. A long walk. Good conversations. A few hours by the workbench.
